Undoubtedly, Mt. Azadkouh is among the beautiful peaks in the Alborz range. The rocky limestone wall, which has dominated whole the north-east, north and the west face of the sole peak of Azadkouh is made a unique shape and prestigious character for this mountain that is the third highest peak in middle Alboraz. Though the mountaineering community hardly hears of successful attempts on the wall, but the peak is accessible via its south face by a fair and gentle trail.

3 days & 2 nights

Day 1: Early drive from Tehran toward Nessen village in the heart of Middle Alborz (4 and a half hours drive); Trekking from the village toward Doab in sout-west of the peak ; overnight at camp
Day 2: Summit push via the Choran pass (3850m) at its south face ; Back to camp; Overnight at camp
Day 3: Trek back to Nessen and drive to Tehran

Winter ascent of Azadkouh is hard due to big avalanches in its surrounding valleys and strong wind at the last part of ascent. We recommend late spring and early summer as the best time to reach the peak and explore the beauty of nature and wildlife in protected areas around the peak. Azadkouh is also accessible in fall from October to mid November.

We take the normal trekking route via Nessen village to the summit in this tour. Contrary to technically difficult routes through the big wall in the north face of Azadkouh, this route goes from a gentle trail, which starts from Nessen village in the north of the mountain, follows a valley in west face and goes toward the peak from south side.
You have to be fit and ready for 6 to 7 hours of trekking in each day in this tour.
