alamkouh or alamkuh massif from kelardasht
Kelardahst is a beautiful town 40 km south of Caspian sea
at the foothills of Alamkouh (Alam-kuh) massif



  
Alamkouh & Takht-e-Solayman region is the most beautiful mountainous region in Iran. Locating less than 50km south of Caspian sea, Alamkouh peak (4860m) (also written as Alamkooh or Alamkuh) as the second highest point of Iran has stood in the heart of this region. The north wall of Alamkouh (around 500m of steep granite wall) is the most challenging wall in the country, which has been surrounded by many peaks above 4000m. In this tour, you will climb a few peaks of the region during three days of your stay in Sarchal and Alamchal, where the enchanting view of this prestigious massif from the top of these + 4000m peaks is breathtaking. Stepping on the biggest glaciers of Iran and climbing in Alamkouh is a memorable experience that you never forget.

  
Six days & five nights

  
Day 1: Drive from Tehran to Roudbarak village (1400m) in the base of the mountain (around six hours drive); Overnight in the local house or lodge

Day 2: One hour drive from Roudbarak to Vandarbon (2300m) and almost five hours trek from Vandarbon to Sarchal hut (3800m); Overnight in the hut

Days 3, 4 , 5 : These three days is considered for climbing in the region. There are different peaks that are accessible from this side. Siahkaman (4450m), Chaloon(4500m), SiahGook(4450m), Mian-Se-Chal(4300m), Shanehouh(4400m), Takht-e-Solayman(4700m) and Alamkouh(4860m) are among the peaks that are accessible here. Depending on the weather condition and the time, we can decide to go for few of these peaks

Day 6: Trek back to Roudbarak (almost 3 hours) and drive back to Tehran (six to seven hours drive)

  
One night in local house / lodge & four nights in the hut / tent

  
We recommend May to September for visiting this region. Though, there is a chance of rain and unstable weather in this region, even in summer time.
Any winter ascent in this region is tough and needs previous experience on winter mountaineering.

  
In Alamkouh region, you can find different peaks with different difficulty grade to climb. From easy trekking ascent to scrambling on the rocky flanks to serious climbing routes all are possible here. Please contact us to be advised on the proper peaks of the region for your climbing level.

You can combine your Alamkouh plan with ascending Mt Damavand (5671m) as the highest peak in Iran. They can fit easily in a two week trip, while you get acclimatized in Alamkouh region before heading up toward Damavand. Enroute, you will visit Caspian sea region too.
